Embroidery Dreams

When I was a little girl, I used to embroidery different patterns which my mother bought for me. The first one was a cute little puppy which was framed. My mother still keeps it hangs in the living room. Six months ago I had the pleasure to meet a new product and a new virtual friend (and a very real one since we both live in Israel). Orly creates a unique product (and she is a unique person). Product which I am sure you all will love. Orly prints embroidery patterns on canvas in a traditional technique and those patterns are so lovely you just can’t ignore them. As a nostalgic person, I really appreciate traditional crafts and Orly has a lot of respect to that tradition. I am not sure when I will find the time to do some embroidery work, but choosing my pattern in her Etsy shop was very easy. You can see it yourself here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/EmbroideryDreams?ref=seller_info_count

And if you want to see more pictures from this process you can follow her blog:

My Wedding Necklace

Ever since I returned to the craft fair, sleeping became a waste of time. Tuesday and Friday are a very exhausting days and in the end of them, I find myself trying to remember when I had a few minutes of quite (very rare). The rest of the week, I am with my children which leave not enough time to writing. Because I am sure you are not here to read the boring schedule of bussy mother, I want to show you some progress in my work.

Finally after planning, taking a picture (one after one…), I am pleased with the result. I have a new necklace for my bib collection necklaces. This collection has only few items, but each one makes a statement. A very simple dress and one of these necklaces and you will have a dazzling appearance. I think the mother of pearl stones is an excellent combination with the goldfilled wire and the satin ribbon.

And the winner is….

It took me a while, but finally after my child was sick and my baby (it was hard) and participating twice a week in craft fair, I want to announce the winner in my giveaway. I wrote all the names on small notes and asked from my child to pick one from a glass ball. I am not sure he understood why his mother chased him with a glass ball, but he was happy to pick a note. So the winner is Monica from Impressions of a Princes.

You can contact me on orithaddad111@hotmail.com to claim  your prize.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

For today post I have some amazng pictures and this is the story:

My father-in-low celebrated 80 years old  last month and we had to figure out which gift would be perfect for him. This was not easy at all since he is not the person who likes presents.

The answer was found in Ein Karem . This picturesque neighborhood in Jerusalem was our favorite place to travel in the last year. It seems like time has stopped here. A year ago we were walking through the narrow streets and we noticed a bench near one of the apartment. An amazing card of special studio for photography invited us to take a picture in antique style. My husband was impressed and a year later this was an amazing idea how to celebrate his father’s birthday.

We wake up early that morning as we had to pick up his father. In the studio we met the photographer which spent a long hour trying to fit the suitable dress for the early 20th century. For the adults is was fun, but for the children is was a bit boring and very quickly they become impatient. Taking the photo was exhausting since every child try to run out door. Here are some photos:

I Need Some Help

Lately I was thinking to write another tutorial and add it to my PDF series. Because it takes a lot of time to write it, I found myself having doubts which item should be the next one.

The first one is for this ring:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This tutorial was massive project. I insisted to take a close up of every single stitch, this means 55 pictures!! Each picture was attached to comprehensive explanation not for knitting the correct stitch, but also the basic terms for crochet technique. I wanted to make the tutorial simple and easy to understand and follow so everyone could learn to make the ring. When I finally listed it, I was relieved and to my big surprise, I got good feedback.

When the good feedbacks continued, I was encouraged to write another one. This time I have decided that the crochet balls would be interesting item. Because you can make with them variety of earring and necklaces, it seems they are the perfect product.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The next item was wrapped earring. This tutorial is also focused on how to wrap with knitted wire.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I think that there is no need to write more on wrapping so I was wondering if the next tutorial should be on how to make this earring:

What do you think? Are this earrings suitable for my next PDF?

Amazing Sewing Project

The best present I got for Adi, my baby girl, was from my sister. As textile designer in profession she sewed an amazing baby toy which is designed as an elephant head and a very long body. The entire toy is sewed only from scraps as long tube. The toy can be used as amazing play ground which the baby can climb on it, push, pull and catch the loops my sister added. The entire project took a while and when I got it I was amazed.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The elephant head.  I love the ears.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Entire trunk near the tail.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Amazing flower to catch.  I love the fabrics she used.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

One loop to hold.

And another loop to hold. The baby’s name is

embroidered in Hebrew.

One heart with lace edge.

sh-sh-sh-sh-sh – someone is sleeping.

I am so impatient to see the baby climbs on it!!

Now I have to think for a present to my sister. She has one month old baby boy.

Big trouble!!

Some help??

My Etsy Shop Celebrates 3 Years.

My Etsy Shop Celebrates 3 Years.

Looking back it seems like a long journey. I remember how I was surprise to find out that I can sell jewelry on the web with out been worn or touched. Etsy was a whole new world for me and pretty soon I have realized how much I enjoyed learning how to take a dissent photo for my items (very difficult at start and a lot of tears), how to describe an item and how to keep an excellent costumer service.

One of the first decisions I did back then was to chose my first items to be listed. This was not easy at all!! Because I couldn’t listed all my items at once, I had to pick few items from the variety of styles I have. The first necklace was from this collection.

This was new collection beck than and I was not sure if I should list it first, the lava beads seemed to me too bold. To my big surprise, after few days I had a sale and guess which item it was:

From time to time, I get good feedbacks and this drives me to keep improve my shop.
I can tell you that every compliment still keeps me excited and fill me with new air.
This is the last feedback I got this week from Laura Moradi , one of Etsy sellers:

“I just wanted to let you know how beautiful I think your jewelry is. I’ve tried many times to use crochet in my work, and the results always seemed so sloppy, but yours are truly jewels – very fine, even, and obviously masterful – from someone who’s tried, Bravo!”

Hope for many good feedback for the next year.

My Valentine’s Heart

I have been trying to crochet heart shape pendant ever since I started to knit in wire, but the result was never good enough (as always…). Sometimes the shape was not fine enough for me and sometimes it was too flat. But I want a heart pendant and because I love knitting around a stone or crystal, I preferred to choose a heart shape stone and to knit around it. The result as you can see was pendant and ring.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The first one was with Swarovski crystal, but what about some red color?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So the second was Carnelian pendant.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The third was ring with mother of pearl

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And here on my finger.

But I still was not happy and finally after many options (and many tears), I knitted this cute
heart which is a bit curved. Now I am happy.

What do you think?

One Sunny Day

I love scrapbooking! It is a new hobby for me, only few months, but already making my own album pages and card greeting. It all started when I was looking for a better way to arrange my family photos (and I have a lot ) . Because I am very nostalgic person I still use an old analogous camera (please don’t laugh) which force me to print the photos on every occasion. This means a lot of photos which needs special pages.

Usually for making a page I need a sketch which guides me on how to layout the photo and the background. I have discovered that my favorite method of decoration is to ‘continue’ and ‘stretch’ the photo. This way highlights, in my opinion, the photo in a very interesting close up and it is not just adding decoration. Sometimes I use a sketch from my Pinterest boards and sometimes I make my own one. Pinterest, by the way, has become a very important tool for my creations in the last months.
Because scrapbooking is very new for me, my supply is limited so I love to improvise. In some cases it is even advantage and it became a major part in the process of creating the page.

The photo I have chosen was taken a year ago. It was a sunny day in the middle of the winter and because it was Saturday, we decided to go on a picnic in the Ella Valley. This  amazing valley has a lot of vineyards and magic woods, so we started walking. After 15 minutes my husband decided he wants to show our son some birds, so he lifted him and put him on his shoulders. I was behind them and I thought this will be a great  photo, so I took a picture in my old camera.

The page is created with Israeli cardstocks which were designed by Tsroya Ilan. She has amazing pages and I thought they will add some nature mood to my photo.

I started my decoration with a frame  so I cut the pages and left a adge which looks like a frame. After that I added a path made from another page.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

To highlight the path, I knitted a very simple crochet stitches (I just can’t not adding any knitted item)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The sun was made from a large button, almost 2 inch.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The trees are from a Christmas tree (!!!) which I had on my  cardstocks stock. I cut it and copied it.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The last decoration was adding quotation from famous Israeli song which means: “we went on a trip…”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is the finished page. Every time I looks at him, I feel like going to a trip.

Hope you feel the same.
